Can I get a 1256 down to 8000lbs relatively easy, or should I be lighter to begin with and turbo an 856?

I was told that the 1256 is the same as a 856 exept that the 1256 has a turbo on it. I have pulled a 856 before but could only get in to 10,000 class and at that it was very close.

I guess what I'm getting at is if the reared and transmissions are different (lighter) than each other or if it was the same basic unit with a turbo tacked on.

I should have mentioned that this will be a stripped down puller. Pressed steel wheels, all the pto, 3 point stuff gone, new front axle, aluminum fenders, small fuel tank, smaller batteries, etc.

Could a 706-806 rear end be any lighter?

Yeah, a 706 would be ideal, but the rearend has to match the model designation according to the rules...
