Pulling a trailer

I was thinking about buying a trailer. Up until this point we have used my father-in-laws trailer or our freightliner dump. He has a 12,000# Diamondback goose neck. It doesn't have a beaver tail, so it makes it interesting late at night in the dark.

Because I drive a company truck, I don't feel that I can talk the boss into letting me put a ball in bed. Does anyone have any recommendations on a particular brand of trailer or options that could make the ride better. Torsion bar hitch?

Yeah your right, your scared, I can see you now, sweating in your bed because all you can hear is the sounds of a diesel two-cylinder crunching your little pedal tractor you left in the road. Always thought it was funny that people like you, think you are so funny and smart, but are so ashamed of yourself that you do not even have the guts to put in your e-mail for fear of being brought down off your high horse. If you do not have the the ability to read a post and reply in a decent manner, just leave your childish thoughts to yourself. We do not need you here.

hey if you are going to pull a trailer in PA registered over 10,000 GVW make absolutely sure you have a combination plate on the truck and dont believe your notary or local cop when they tell you it isnt necessary. been there, done that, got the fat fine and impound time to prove it.check out title 73 of the state motor vehicle code if you dont believe me. pulling an empty 14,000 gvw gooseneck with a one ton truck registered at 11,000 GVW made me overweight according to the wonderful commonwealth. check it out!! btw combination plates for the one ton now cost 400 odd dollars a year

sorry the title i gave was incorrect it is title 75 chapter49 subchapter C section 4942 of the motor vehicle code and basically says if your trailer is registered over 10,000 GVW then the truck towing it must be registered as a combination exceeding the combined weight of truck trailer and load. Meaning when they weigh you (and they will) you will be weighed as one unit and the registration must be more than the weight. so all you guys with one ton duallys registered with straight plates pulling a trailer registered at 12,000 GVW hauling a 5500 pound tractor are illegal in the eyes of the commonwealth unless you step up to the plate and shell out 400 + dollars for that combo plate. then you are legal HAHA trust me i even fought it in court and lost

I've never seen the 8N pull well at all. Find
the boys a CA allis. These little tractors
for some reason have so much power for their
weight class, and alot of traction.

Sorry, but Hart-Parr had a live PTO around about 1928, but it was so advanced for the time that no one accepted it. And in 1948 Oliver 66/77 series were the first to have live PTO on a modern tractor.

These are the facts.

It's the way of buisness or haven't you noticed what's been going on in the last 20 years in the AG products industry, in particular the manufaturing of farm tractors. The mid 90's model 6400 JD we have on the farm has an engine made in Germany, and a front final drive system made in slovania, or some such place. it's a similar situation with other JD tractors models less than 100 Horse power. Our neighbors 5510 JD is vertually all made in Europe. Companies just don't want to pay the manufacturing cost of making things in this country, they've got to make money for their share holders, at the expence of a perfectly good available labor force. Deere is no different than any other company, and when they get a chance, and noone is looking, they will make things overseas. I don't like it, and I do think it takes some of the luster away from John Deere. I have extreme pride in my country, but corporations are doing their part to help. Where is your shirt or blue jeans made that you are wearing. How about your wrist watch, the chair you are setting in. We don't make anything anymore, and unless it changes it will be our downfall. Later, Greg H.
