I wanted to get a little more power from my D-19 gas motor so I stroked it 1/2". I was clearance grinding in the engine and ran into a problem. The crank and rod hit the cam pretty solid. Does anyone know how much I will have to notch the cam for the rod to clear? It still has the stock standard rods in it. I am afraid that I will break the cam if I go too thin! Help! Has anyone out there did this to a Buda?

Can you replace the stock rod cap bolts with cap screws and gain some clearance?

Yes, that would help a lot. What type of bolts are good to replace them with? Thanks.

AC didn't leave much room in there block for stroking. Stock rods won't work. Start with super c IHC rods and you can stroke 1 inch without alot of grinding. Cams have been ground to .485 and worked but not for to long. Sorry but these blocks started at 230 cu in when they were built and 262 were as big as AC ever made them.

I planned to do a flat cut on the cam. Would that help with holding it together? Thanks for that information. I may have to redo the crank. Any modifications have to be made to the Super C rods?

If you stroke to 1 inch more and use super c rods can you use the factory pistons? Or is there a bigger piston that will work with this combo?
