I am just getting started in tractor pulls, I will be pulling in the stock #4600 class, What I really need to know is where is the best place to position the weights, I think I will have to have around 700 pounds of weights, and what tire pressure, what gear, and really any other advice I can get..Thank you.....

Can you pull this tractor in any lighter classes than 4600#? You are pulling against some pretty stiff competition, as John Deere A's and Farmall M's can easily get into this class. If you can, I would try for the 3500# or 4000# classes where your not being out horsepowered so much.

The club I belong to goes from a 3600 pound class to a 4600 pound, so I have to pull in that 4600 pound class...Thanks

My stock 51B with cast wheels weighs 4300 pounds without driver. Usually run the tires at around 8-9 PSI. In first gear, it always spins out, in second gear it usually powers out. I get the best results in First.

Usually the front end lifts up for about the last 30 to 50 feet - it stays about 2 to 6 inches off the ground. I throttle back to about 1/2 throttle so I can control it. During the last few feet, it either spins out or lifts the front.

Sounds like you balance is pretty close. Going have to get more bite on the back then add weight on the front. What air pressure, rim width, tire brand/type? What shape is the spin out hole. Is the drawbar bending and dropping the hitch height? How much bigger is the drawbar's hole than the sled's clevise pin?

One more question...Should I go to cast wheels to make up for some of the weight difference I need, that would be putting a lot of weight right on the wheels, Is that good or bad????? ???

You will probably have to pull in first gear. May need 2 to 300 lbs on front to keep the front end down. I would not put on the cast wheels because every track and every sled are not the same and you can move around those suitcase weights where you need them. Some times the chains are longer or shorter and that make a difference where to put your weights. You will learn it pretty fast after you try it a few times. Gas it and go.Maybe this helps a little, Ken.
