Blaine I've been following you on the pulling forum, you are truly a Pulling historian and back it up with history, dates, names pics etc.
We are so fortunate to have some one like you that has saved, been there-done that and remembered it all. THANKS
Now in one of the pulling mags back in the 70's was pic of a guy with I think was a V-8 Cat diesel engine running on alky, he would pull after dark and have them turn out all the lights and he would light up the whole place with the fire out the 2 stacks, you could even make out the people in the grandstands. I should have that pic somewhere if I could find it, but was wondering if you had seen him pull? don't have a clue what kind of tractor the engine was in or where it was at, think it was at a NTPA Pull. Thanks again, it's sure great to reminisce. Bob

Bob, I guess I'm fortunate that I've been around pulling since 1964 when I was 15 years old.I talked my parents in to taking me to the MO state championship pull at Fulton,Mo in Aug 1964.After that pull I was hooked for life.I've taken quite a few pictures and always took a notebook with me to keep track of each puller at every pull I've ever been too which has to be 600 or so.

Others know far more about pulling than me.They must not have computers or just dont visit this site.Believe it or not I've only been to 4 pulls east of the Mississippi River in my entire life.I've never been to Bowling Green,Louisville,Tomah, etc.I mostly just went to pulls in Missouri and Kansas.I mainly followed pulling thru the pulling magazines and have taken the NTPA Puller since it first came out.

I have always been to the MO State Fair Pull for at least one day every year since it first started in 1966.My goal is to make it to 50 of them.

Your question has already been answered correctly with it being Gene Donaldson on the Cats Meow 2255 Oliver with the Cat V-8 on alky.

The puller that you are talking about, I believe, was Gene Donaldson from Nebo KY. He had the first 2255 Oliver on Alky. He was truly one of the finest pullers you would ever want to know. He pulled NTPA and back then the old Tennessee State Tractor Puller's association. If you go to Predicoaluminum web site and go to the super stock archives you will find his pictures along with a lot of the oldies.

I am going on 38 and I remember when I was a kid seeing a Minnie Mo G1000 with a horseshoe stack that smoked out one end and blew fire out the other. This was in west Tennessee back in the 70's.Do any of you remember an International named "Double Trouble",he was a bad dude in those days?Just don't seem to have pulls like them any more.

I believe that you are talking about Max & Joe Pat Hughes. They ran a very strong G1000 that had a tricycle front end. I remember seeing them win a National pull in Evansville, IN beating the likes of Dave Stangle, Danny Dean, and a whole slew of other greats. The picture is fairly recent although I never saw it run with the wide front or Goofy written on the side. The tractor is now in East Tennessee owned by Ol' George

The site for Predoco is WWW predocoaluminum.net. As far as Double Trouble goes, that was one of the first 1066 that was built for the 7500lb class. It was built by Sonny Crutcher in Paris Tn.he also built the Rattler. The tractor was latter purchased by Rattle and Snap farms where I had the pleasure of driving it for four years in the Tn/ Al circuit. Rattle & Snap also bought the Rattler and ran both of these tractors for several years. Both of the IH's ended up painted BLACK. I left the farm after that and built a 570 cockshutt light super and ran it for 5 years before retiring and becoming an NTPA tech official for the last 15 years. BUT I could not get it out of my blood and ended up purchasing an old Oliver last November and playing again and having a blast.

We bought an Oliver 77. Runs the 3500 & 4000 4mph class best. Nothing fancy and exotic. This is what my grandfather used and it brings back fond memories. Just going to run basicaly local but like to travel and see other aspect of the sport. We have 32 dates here on the Midsouth circut with NTPA state and since i am the head tech, i have to make sure that all pulls have officals assigned and taken care of.

We,ve made it to Paris TN,Jackson, and Mayfield KY when they have it there.I missed LaCenter on the NTPA but did make it there for thier antique tractor pull.I like to watch that John Deere named"Diasater",he don't let up on it.You all put on good shows.P.S ole Robin Wood has been in it for as long as I can remember. We will be trying an ole Super 88 Oliver this year for the first time, like the sound of them Oliver/Waukesha engines.Maybe one of these days I'll slap one of those 99 heads on that puppy.
