Are their any major disadvantages to building or pulling a farm stock 856? Ex. Week tranny, weak crank, bad injection pump... I am just wondering if their is any thing I should watch out for after building one.

I pulled a 1968 856 Farmall for 11 years and found no weakness in it.In the early 70's I pulled 12,000 SS with it at 350-400 horses and later pulled 10,000 thru 15,000 stock classes at 200 horses. It was always run in the field at 150 horses with 24.5 rear tires and 18.4 duals.

The owner ahead of me also pulled it for 3 years 1968-70 with lots of horses and ruled the 12,000 lb class in SW MO.The 856's are a tough old tractor.

I'm live in SW Missouri, was wondering if your 856 was Paul Goddfry's old tractor? My dad pulled back then with a 3010 JD. He run around with Jack Purinton who is still the JD dealer here in Lamar.
