Sounds like who ever put the speed limit in just couldnt hang with a real div 4 tractor. probably will cost them some of the better tractors.

Personally it doesn't matter to me but it seems that the good old boys can't stick with the CASE from Muskingum County so they just make the speed so slow that he can't gear down that far. Anyway with their rules I have to run DIV 4 so slow everyone down sounds good to me. HA HA

Hope to see the 40 and 50 there Heavy Puller

Is that just a Dekalb rule about the 8 mph, or NATPA? I think it is a good idea,, why have 2 classes that have an ulimited speed limit? One is enough,, most div 4 tractors, (to my memeory) were higher hp div 3 tractors, stepping up a class. If the big boys wanna run 20mph,, let them do it in a div 5 class. Just my opinion!! It is a good idea,, something different. Chad

The Speed limit is just for the Dekalb Super Pull as of yet. COATPA's 2004 rules aren't posted yet. COATPA's division 4 and 5 are very different. Division 5 allows unlimeted RPMs, while Division 4 is 20% over. Seeing as how division 4 tractors are usually stroker engines, there's no way that a division 4 tractor will be able to turn those kind of RPMs, that is if you want your engine to stay in one piece. Having said that, there is definetly a need for 2 unlimeted speed classes. We also don't recall seeing any division 3 tractors at the Dekalb pull jumping into division 4 classes (except for the real heavy classes (8500#, etc.). We think this rule will scratch out a couple of tractors from Michigan (Gregory and Manchester) Farmall Ms, and probably several others. There is no need for the speed limit. If your tractor ain't tough enough to pull division 4, than don't pull it. There's always room in division 3. For all it's worth, we don't pull division 4 or 5. This is just our opinion on the matter.

The speed limit doesn't bother me to much, but last year alowing unlimited rpm's (oliver 88) in 4500 div 4 was wrong. The tech comittee never did a thing. Also 5000 div 4 class was over and started next class and allowed 600 case to run.
After class is over? To top it off, this was the most disorganized pull I have been to! Wait in line to register for 4-5 hours? Sound to me like I better stay home. Wait in line pay to watch? NO!
Hopfully You Dekalb boy's read this & at least try to improve. Last year was a disaster for this caliber of a pull!

I havnt been to this pull since 2000. I had fun but I noticed I had to pay twice ( 2 sessions). My family likes to come and watch also but I told them to not waste there time anymore because it had turned into a big money hungry sh@#hole. Do they still allow you to register ahead of time by mail or what.

I absolutely agree, that is about the (NATPA). This situation is no different. Anybody that wants to whine or don't like there program just be an idiot and keep paying there ridicules fees to support it. Don't take an accountant to figure out how to tell these people go screw themselves. Just quite paying them!

In defense of Joe C. running the pull, be fair about the critical comments. He is not the sole "boss" of the Dekalb Pull. Joe works hard for the benefit of the pullers and also the club.
I know personally he will go out of his way to satisfy any pullers request if in reason. Keep in mind COATPA has over 800 hooks that weekend. I think it runs pretty smooth for that event.

It was begamens old 600. It did run good, but the next class had started with the sled reset for div 2 and he almost hit the wall! I stood right there and watched it happen. Stupid people in charge wouldn't listen, just gave the case 600 the win! This is why (I think) the speed limit is now on this class. Just my 3 cents worth
