Hey Guys:

I'm wanting to build a 7700 Combine Engine for pulling. I know I'm going to have the pump and injectors redone with bigger lines and the upper limit for max fuel. How far can I go here and how much does it normally cost? I'll probably take RPM up to 3500. I'd like to put a different cam in it as well as porting manifolds and head. Are these two mods very beneficial? Is it absolutely necessary to add straight cut gears in the gear case of the engine? Compression is rather low on these diesel engines, so will head gasket troubles be very common? How much power can I end up with?

Thanks In Advance,

Johnboy

The key to horsepower is air. more air more power. Ways to get more air are cubic inch (466 or 500 vs. 404)turbo boost valve flow rpm. next step is to keep inlet temp low (coolers water or alcohol injection)if you put 400 degree air into an engine you can only raise temp inside about a 1000 degrees. if you start with200 degree air you can raise temp about 1200 degrees. the fuel part is easy, the air part to a point is easy after that it get tricky. getting it together and working is the art. Come on boys, I need more insight. Is a 3lm Schwitzer turbo big enough?
