I am putting in aluminum pistons in my 1940 B and boreing it out to 4.732 and the place on where I am getting the pistons from told me that I would have about 14 to one compresion. Has anyone done this before? if so any problems.

Had an A built to 13-1 comp. for pulling and it ran like crap. Just too high on comp. Would not lug at all. Made a few changes to reduce comp. and it idled better, lugged alot more. Comp. is now around 9-1,that's where alot of pullers seem to say where to build at.

ask them to measure from the center of the pin to the top and compare that to your old pistons. I have some doubt that it will be that high. Most replacement pistons wont get you past 8 to 1 but I could be wrong.

While increasing compression as long as detonation is prevented, does increase the engine mechanical efficiency.( power out per gallon of fuel in). There comes a point of diminishing returns where going Eg. from 11 to 1 upto 14 to 1 gains little power compared to the jump from 4 to 1 upto 7 to 1. Flame travel gets really contorted getitng from the side of the piston up to the top and over the dome.

Any ideas on the amount of horse power to expect?

HP all depends on a multitude of other factors yet unstated. Anywhere from less than stock to 55HP
