Is there a pulling class that allows duals?

I am working on the purchase of an IH 660 diesel that I would like to use on the farm and also to pull with. It is stock. I was wondering if they allow duals in any class? It has 18.4x34 rears and I have the band duals to fit it. Also, any idea what weight class it would fit into?

TIA

Steven

In my area (central Mn) farm stock tractors in the 85 hp, 9000lb classes and up are allowed to use duals. With duals on you would most likely be in that class. If you wanted to add wieght you could pull in the 100 hp, 10500 lb class although you might be underpowered.
Duals seem to help some guys alot, especially on tracks that don't get packed real well between pulls. Make sure you get the bands good and tight if you decide to use duals.

I always thought duals were to reduce soil compaction. It also means the weight of the tractor is spread out over more ground resulting in less traction. Just my opinion.

It all depends. Sometimes a large surface area is superior on loose surfaces like sand. In deep snow a tall narrow tire goes farther. When on the field anything that reduces soil compaction is a winner. For the comedians, yes the chances of deep snow during a pull are slim.

There are about 2 pulls here in TX, that allow about anything U can get on the track, as far as old tractors...

Hehe... I was about to say, G Taylor... I know U guys in the north like your tractor pulling.. I know U guys pull on some hard ground.. (like almost frozen..)but.. hehee.. in the SNOW.. haa.. Do you have to pull the snow back on the track between pulls so everyone has to pull through the snow???? Can U have a blade on the tractor??? If its a little icey, and U use chains??? hehee... Just giving ya a hard time.. Taylor...

PS... What is snow anyways... I seen it once..... ...in a picture... is that the stuff they send down here to make snowcones out of.. haha... (Maybe this should have been on the tractor Tails board... OH well... )
