Sick Sense of H

This is going to sound crazy... maybe it is:

I saw someone post the other day about repowering an 806.

I have an 856 that has a cracked block. This is my only red tractor. I really do like it's size and creature comforts (always perfect for that spot that the big tractors don't fit in and the little tractors can't handle), but I never cared for the power, and I am tired of getting picked on.

I have always got a fair amount of goading from my friends about the fact I have a red tractor. I was thinking about dumping a 466 out of a 55 series Deere in that 56 and paintin her green. What do you think?

Is this a mortal sin? (I can ask for forgiveness... I am catholic)

Can I make this happen?

Has anyone ever done this?

Thanks

That's a pretty sick idea, seriously! If you want to go 466, at least use an IH, it can, and has been done!! Much better engine, and much cheaper to rebuild and/or play with. (Cheaper on fuel too). Like the others have said, a DT407 will give you all the power you need, (over 300hp at stock R's) The only reason the green guys cry and moan all the time about it must be because they are jealous! Agree?? An 856 is a nice tractor anyway you look at it, Dad had one, wish I had it back!! It ran 185 horse (he made a 1256 out of it) and was one sweet ride! Good luck with your project, FD

Give a DT-407 and crank the pump. Great power, and no headache or confession in the morning.

I was going to post the idea last week but refrained after due consideration. How about a Detroit Two Stroke 4-71,4-53T or 6V-53?

I don't think you can be forgiven for a sin that bad.
