I have an Farmall 856 which i am thinking about pulling. It has a D407 naturally aspirated engine. People tell me turbocharging a non turbo engine makes good power because the heads flow better. But is there any difference in pistons compression etc. that would decrease engine life. I have a 1206-1256 (DT361 DT407)manifold and will probably use a T-04 turbo with the fuel pump max-ed out. Some HP numbers would be nice if you have done this before. Thanks

I've never seen a DT407 or 361, but I was told that there are two sets of oil spray nozzles/cylinder that spray down the cylinder wall on the DT blocks, and only 1 set on the D blocks. If you do any boring or stroking of the engine, the extra oil would be helpful for cooling as I understand things.

D407 is naturally aspirated and DT407 is turbo charged. this is a dry sleeved engine. not enough block to bore out, it bearly has enough wall to hold the sleeve, have seen a couple leak

dt has a turbo from the factory the stock comp. ratio is the same. the pistons have a different part# but look the same. the 1456 has bigger wristpins. i dont know hp. with a stock pump but with a 450 head big nozzels and lines 325 is easy
