I am getting ready to weigh the 40 that I have been working on but haven't removed the PTO. Does anyone know how much weight would be removed if I took it off? Is it a big job?

they're 100+ pounds...maybe 150 or so, that's just a guess. enough where I've found it easier to drag than carry.
it's been a long time since I've messed with one, but I think once remove it leaves a shaft or tube hollow where any oil splashed could run down it directly onto the clutch. be sure and check that out. like I said I'm pretty hazy cause it's been a while since i've worked on one.

Thanks for reminding me about the oil problem. Its probably possible to plug the tube but might not be worth the effort. Jerry
