Farmall wheels dished in or out

I have an M that I pull a few times a year. My problem is getting to pulls. You need a trailer that is at least 87 inches wide to fit an M tractor with the wheels dished out. This rules out most trailers that do not have the bed over the wheels. Normally you have about 82 inches on fender type trailers. However these trailers are much more prevalent. My question is does it effect the pulling capability of a tractor to have the wheels dished in with a narrower wheel base? and does it stress the tractor more with the hub farther away from the bearing surface? I have noticed that four wheel drive truck pullers widen thier wheel bases but I think a tractor may be a different situation.

Run your tires as narrow as possible.By doing this, when one wheel starts to spin it does not cause the tractor to pull off to the side of the track as fast. Then you don't have to use the brakes as much.

WELL?,,,as far as where the wheels are for truck pulling, the truck pullers are trying to get the front wheels out wider so the back wheels don't get into the ruts of the front wheels,as for your tractor, the rig you choose to haul with will determin wheel spacing,,put it this way,if you like the wheels dished out, then get the rig that will work for you,and vice versa.I was at a sale and there I was told that tractors with wheels dished "in" meens that the tractor was set for field work, and that it more than likely came from the southern part of the country,if the wheels were dished "out",then that ment that the owner never did much field work that required "wide" spacing and that the tractor, more than likely, came from the north, this, I found to be true about 50% of the time,,My father told me that when he was working for FARMALL,that inorder to ship as many tractors possible in the rail cars, they would dish the wheels out, inorder to get the tractor as narrow as can be.SO If you are around my father at a sale, and you hear him say,"That tractor is still in the shipping position", you will know what he ment.
How about you all out there?,what do you all think?,,,,,Hope to here from ya's.
