Chad, noticed on a past post you said that you could "probably loose up to 200 pounds replacing H axle housings and axles with ones from a W4". they are basically round instead of square right? Went out and found a W4 a few months ago and bought the whole thing, salvage basically but for the rear axle housings and axles. took them off and weighed them, came to 95 lbs each for a total of 190, Took the ones off the pull tractor and they were 124 lbs each for 248. that is only 58 pounds lighter. Far cry from "probably 200". Is there more than one type of production W4 axle housing out there that I just dont know about? spent a little money for just loosing 60 pounds, out of the whole deal not to mention time and trouble.

Hey now, I am not saying that he gives bad advice. I am pretty knowledgeable about pulling and familiar with Farmalls and most of the times he hits the nail on the head. Everyone has there own opinion based on there own experiences. That is one reason it is called competition. Just wandering about these W4 axle housings. If there was more than one production type or If you know something about lightening them Chad, please share because losing weight is losing weight. Red

One of our guys splice together and an M and W6 basically like ChadS did with his 460H. All he had to work around was the clutch (they work the opposite way) and put a wide fron end under it. He's well under 4500. I'd say it was good for at least 200 lbs.
