How many of you use avaiation fuel in your pullers? It's cheaper for me to buy that than it it is to buy 111 octane.I am thinking about trying a mixture using av gas. Thanks

It is always interesting to me to see how many people burn high octane fuel in their stock tractors. If you have enough compression to actually need high octane I believe you will find the 100LL to be just fine. It is certainly comparable to Cam2 or other "racing" fuel. Remember, if it don't knock on 87 octane then you don't need anything higher, you will only be hurting your performance.

what if it knocks on 110.....lol...you know its funny, I was just talkin to a friend lastnight about av gas and it is supposibley(sp)the most pure form of petrolium gas there is that is leaded. he won't run anything but that 100 av. gas with 104+ octane booster. this B will run on 87, but he claims it is better due to the lead that was meant to run in it....who knows..this little B isn't stroked, but it has 40 hp....??hmmmmm mmm

The lead would help with the valves sucking up into the head after 4,000 hrs. Don't think that will be a big problem on any of my "pull" tractors. I don't remember lead being added for anything other than lubrication.

Just remember to put bigger carb jets in if you add much alcohol. *G*

Jack, I use avgas in my pullers and have for several years. One thing that some folks don't know is that the "100" figure is somewhat misleading regarding octane. Aviation fuel is rated on a different scale than automotive fuel. I was once told that it's "true" (read: automotive) octane rating was about 110. Mike

I have used it in the past... Most of the AV gas is 100 Low Leaded... (need to run a little MM oil with it..) If you are going to mix it with pump gas, will be lowering the octane... All depends on how much compression you are running.. if your tractor needs the high octane... JDGnut
