It depends, For most applications, a copper coat will do just fine on stock, or copper head gaskets. The best stuff in my book is made by Gasket Works INC, called GK-5. It is more forgiving than coppercoat. On copper head gaskets, and sleeved engines, there is a problem, the sleeve standout holds up the gasket around the bores and due to the standout, it does not seal the water from the oil. coppercoat will not seal this when this happens, the GK-5 will, it is designed to fill in more of the inperfections, or where you need to have a better sealer to hold. go to www.headgasket.com for more info on sealers, and Gasket Works products. Hope this helps, Chad
