I have pulled my stock 70 JD off and on for the last couple of years in the 6500 farm class now Im thinking of making it more competitive in other classes. Can a 70 be stripped down enough to get into lighter weight classes. Can you get enough hp out of one vs weight to be a serious contender? If so does anyone have any suggestions on how to set one up.

On a biting track you may not want to go heavier than 6500lbs unless you intend on stroking it.I had a nice one with.125 over aluminum high compression pistons that ran good but it was real heavy for lighter classes(not enough moveable weight)and didn't have enough power from 7000lbs up.They had a 2.5 mph first that put a hurtin on them.I keep hearing about 70 diesel reduction gears to slow first down but I have no experience on that. Some here will help with that one.Good luck.
