I am currently in the process of constructing a 597 cubic inch styled John Deere A and was wondering what head to use. Previously I had run a 475 cubic inch A with a Heisler head, but was wondering whether the larger Jerry's head would work better on the larger motor? Is the Heisler sufficient and the Jerrys head overkill for a motor of this size? All help would be appreciated!

I have heard the Heisler is better, but if you decied to go with the Jerry's head, I would be interested in the heisler because I hear they make a good hp increase, are cheaper, and I kinda wanna try one...lol...thanks alot, apuller

If you can find a flowed Heisler, you will probably be better off. In my opinion, you are getting to the point that a Jerry's would start to work, but at the higher rpms (1200-1400). If you want it to lug, I would say go Heisler. If you are going to run 1200-1400rpm, the Jerry's may outrun a Heisler, if you do some work to the Jerry's first. And you could probably find a good flowing Heisler cheaper than a good flowing Jerry's. Hope this helps you out some.
