it seemed to me that it ran out of power or better yet had no power to get the sled moving past 3 ft. i have the card adjusted to idel down real low. a friend in the stands told me that it sounded like it was starving for fuel or air just did not sound right. thanks eric

Time to find a dyno and tune it back to factory HP. A stocker should have spun out in creeper gear.

try to aquire a newer B with the 6 speed trans, i pull a 48 B, i dont run in the 5500 class and it wont die, the old b's were kinda geared wrong unless u have aquired more horse in the engine.

Track conditions are a big part of how your tractor will perform. I have pulled at a few places with my oliver S88 Gas and It is pulling about 85 horses. I have gotten on one track where I have choked it out. This is the same track where they somtimes pull the super stock tractors and I have seen them choke out too. I know a guy who pulls only john deere b s . The last time I pulled agenst him we were running in the 5500lb, he had weights every where, He smoked me!! I asked him later what the tractor was pulling he said about 145 he also told me that he had about 3000 in the moter. My 2 cents

you need to tear it down and put some motor work into it. a JD B that is an early styled has a 2.5 mph low, and is hard to keep'em alive..lol...It depends on what your gonna pull in...antique, or a little hotter tractors. The H has a more power possibility. I am a JD guy, but I don't really like B's..lol...a friend is doing an unstyled B with alum. pistons..and it should have almost 25...lol...YEE HAA..lol....my cuz. has a B that is late that runs 40hp w/o stroking it.....

What was the drawbar length and height you used? What was the hitch height for the class? What kind of track, tires and airpressure?

Is you B a 6 speed transmission? If it is, it should be fairly competative in the farm stock classes, probably better than your H. (I pull red tractors, so I'm not biased). Now, you need to work on your tractor, get it tuned up to run great. Stay out of the stock and open classes, these guys know what they are doing. Watch them and learn!
