I have a puller that tests at 220 psi compresson. Is that equivalent to 11 to 1? I'm a little confused on that conversion. Can someone please tell me? Thanks.

According to the equation I have for conversion I am coming up with 9.35 to 1 on your ratio.

Ohio M Puller
Compression Conversions
R=((P+14.7)/14.7)^(1/24)
P=(14.7*R^1.24)-14.7

Hope this may help.

Ohio M, I think you meant R=((P+14.7)/14.7)^(1.24), not R=((P+14.7)/14.7)^(1/24)

I have a chart that converts it, but it was printed in the 30's when engineers were afraid of valve overlap. I would say it was accurate for it's time, but not for anything to much new then when it was printed. Going by this chart you would have 9.0 to 1 at 221.4 psi. Best way to tell the ratio is to pull the head and check the CC's and do the math.

There are to many variables (like cam timing) to be able to convert C/R to actual PSI. I found a web site that may be of interest. WWW. compression ratio computation.com This site calculates compression ratio for different mechanical engine parameters. Hope this helps Farmall

According to the 2-Cylinder Magazine... the 620 JD ( LP) has a compression ratio of 8.1:1, and the compression pressure calls for 216-237 lbs pressure...at Rated RPM, but only 185 lbs with the starter.. Sounds like you may be a Long way from 11:1...

That's the same Case and Farmall that went broke while Deere stayed in business?

Auctually farmall never went broke or out of business. The IHC company is very much alive under the Navistar name. They did sell the ag equipment line to Case back in the 80s, and the industrial line to Dresser, but I think it was more an issue of economics than quality of the product.

But still face it. Case and IH farm equiptment
no longer exist!! Unless you consider them
to be blue. If they were so good they would still
be here economics or not.

Well seems to me quite a few "inferior" I-Hs, Allis Chalmers, Olivers, and Molines are still with us. I'll bet you've had your A$$ spanked by all of them too.
