I would like to go to a 4.5 bore in my Massey 44. I understand this is as big as I can go wihout creative machining and piston are easy to come by. Are there any off-the-shelf sleeves that will work to get this bore or will I have to have custom ones made? Or, is there a better combination? Thanx..

What size bore are you running now. How much power are you looking for. I have a 4.25 bore stock stroke making 135 horse.

I am running the 4 1/16 M&W kit in a +10% class. As far as how much power I am looking for, I just want more than I have now and spend my limited budget wisely. I realize bore is only one component of making power and I also know that there are 44 bores out there larger than 4.5. My logic was that this is the largest bore (so I am told) that you can go w/o offsetting and pistons are relatively easy to come by. Since I am boring the block anyway, I see no reason not to go to the maximum that I can get away with. As they say, there is no replacement for displacement. :-)

about the biggest bore you can run with out offsetting the bore is 4.25. the sleeves are a wet sleeve type, they have to be thicker than dry sleves so this cuts down on the bore diameter that you can run. thats why I went with 4.25 bore

SEE YOU ROUND FLOGGER DR SR .OH YEAH DR JR SAYS HEY. WE'LL CATCH YOU LATER , I HEAR YOU GUYS HAD A SUPER HOOKY TRACK UP AT STATESVILLE , HOW DID YOU DO?

Hey Danny,

I Know of several "stock" 44s with less than that around here. Maybe we need to switch our tobaccer to to other side when we're building these motors. After all it aint what's inside it's how you put it in there... Right?

Tomlin Mill forever more had a track last sat. Thought I was in Hartsville for a little while. "Tried" the 8200 stock class and choked her down. Musta had a plug wire crossed. Did see a couple bad SATPA tractors win 5700 and 6200 stock.

Load up JR, and BIGDADDY and come to Pittsboro if you can.

Later John

That is real american horse power. Its not what you put in the engine its how you put it together.

What is the big deal about "American" somehow being real and Canadian isn't? 135 HP sounds like alot for a near stock displacement Continental. Anything more than 65HP at near stock rev's is getting tough and expensive.

hey case puller I used to run garden tractors and built them. The clubs used 16 horse kohler engines I was getting 26 horsed out of a bone stock 16 horse kohler with ALL stock parts no porting or anything. I ran at 16 pulls and got tore down 13 times and everytime the tecks checked the poor old stock motot thats all they found was STOCK parts. it sure made everybody shake there head. Like I said in an earlier post it isn't what you put in the engine its how you put it together.

THE ENGINE IS NATURALLY ASPIRATED NO SPECIAL FUELS AND IT HAS BEEN ON THREE DYNOS. JUST BECAUSE YOU CANT GET THIS KIND OF HP DOESN'T MEAN IT CAN'T BE GOTTEN.
