Do AC WD's WD-45's make good pullers?

I recently went to my first antique tractor pull a couple of months ago and have become "hooked". Mostly what I saw were JD's, Farmalls and Olivers. I kind of like the looks and design of the Allis Chalmers WD & WD-45's and was wondering if they make good pullers? There was only 1 at this particular pull which is what raised the question. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen a lot of changes here in central MO with tractor pulling in the last several years. A lot of the guys pulling AC's mostly WC's to get into antique classes, liked the variety of blocks that would fit into the WC tractors. But a lot of these pullers have sold their AC and bought JD. I was told that the JD can be bored more, more gears, and stock taller tires for ground speed. In a stock class ha ha, a WD will be very competitive.

They make ok pullers but it depnds what you wanna do with it and what classes. they are sometimes light on the front in your lighter classes. If you are pulling a m.p.h. class then you are kind of limited because Ac wd or wd-45 only have a 4 spd tranny agian i said it just depnds on the class. another thing you have to do to ac's is get them up on taller tires.

The antique pullers in eastern CT don't use a weight transfer sled, just a stone boat like for an ox pull. WD45s are hated by the Farmall guys, the 45s have more power and give the farmalls a bad time. WDs are good too, but not as powerfull, the 45 had almost 10 more hp.
