u guys remember the saying, there is no stupid question, just stupid answeres, this guy must be new to tractors, been around imported cars for too long, this is america, we use steel in our big engine parts, ecpessially with cranks. U have a lot to learn about engine building my friend, put your tractor on hold for a while and learn a few things about engine building from this here dicussion forum. Just a little friendly advise,

How are you going to make an crank or cam out of aluminium and not have it gall or break? Why not just get a set of hard biting tires, balance the fore/aft weight and pull in a class where stripping the tractor isn't required?

bolt a 150 pound flywheel onto a aluminum crank I THINK THE SCATTER SHIELD YOU WOULD NEED WOULD WEIGHT MORE!!!!.NO they dont make aluminum cranks for any 2 lunger or cams the only way a cam would hold up is with roller lifters. Youll havta look else were to lose wieght any reduction in the motor other than piston is a gaurenty for it to put its self on a diet (blow up) good luck ROD

Maybe an Aluminum flywheel..?? Aluminum Hubs.?? I think I can find one or 2 Ply tires...they would be lighter, right..?? Alloy Axles would be good.. Aluminum Head and Block would certainly be a good thing...might be able to use Hilborn injectors....????
