I would say it depends on how extensive the port and polish job is. Is the manifold cut out so both barrels can feed one cylinder, or is it still only one bbl/cyl? Is the eyebrow still in the combustion chamber?? If so, that will hinder the airflow and thus horsepower. Are you using a reground cam?? With a GOOD flowing head and carburator and a GOOD camshaft grind, 85 horsepower shouldn't be that hard to get.

Not to change the subject or anything ,but my 70 has an LP manifold on it . Kieth Merfeld cut the divider out of it. WHY? The carburator is still divided. I would think It would make it run just like a G. However on the dyno there is a big difference. Im not sure I completely understand why.

Now when one of the cylinders is coming down on the intake stroke, it's sucking gas from both barrells of the carb into it instead of just one. With the divider cut out it isn't just sucking through the one side, it allows the other side to be exposed and air is forced through it. Hence you're practically getting double the fuel.
