Are there pistons that will fit a regular Farmall H without sleeves? Someone said to use 706 pistons. I am not going to the bother & expense of boring. Can one use the H rods or are different rods needed? Just wondering what direction to go.

I have an h that I put together a year ago . heres the recipe: found a set of super h overbore pistons, 39/16" pulled sleeves, threw them away, honed bare bore, had buddy make rings to fill counterbore in block, used sleeve retainer to glue them in,found 300 head[was a kerosene H] used 300 man & carb . has about 43-44 hp. LOADS OF FUN in 3500 class on our sand& gravel tracks around here can handle 3rd gear rite handy!

The Junkyard Dog who posts here pulled the sleeves out of an H and dropped Firecraters for a 300 or 350 right in. HP is in the mid 40's or so with a bigger carb and later manifold. I bet he didn't even hone out the holes. He does more with less than anyone I know. He will probably see your post and fill in the details I left out. (old bearings, etc)

Best way to do this is to get a 350 kit and put it in the H. you will have to bore the block just a bit to fit in the sleeves. I would not recomend just pulling out the sleeves and not put a sleeve back in place, there is a lip, or an edge around the sleeve that fits in the block, and that will be left open, and you may have trouble sealing a stock head gasket around the bores. I would estimate, and depending on where you buy your parts, you would have less than $750 in it. Less any work done to the head, or crank. ChadS
