I am receiving a very cheap 806 diesel for a school project and want to make it as powerful as possible, I am planning on adding a turbo but I am unsure about the injects, pump, largest pistons possible (maybe even running it without the sleeves), overheatinmg issues, or anything i should look at while it is slit in half as well, all help is appreciated, thaks in advance.

We run a 361 bored and stroked to 540ci. Pistons are 4 5/8" if I remember right, with whatever stroke that takes to take it to 540 (maybe 539ish). Cat pistons if I remember, with Leyland(foreign tractor) rods. Bored clean through water jacket and poured full. Wouldn't really recommend going that far with one, but it is possible. Run a 3LM charger but waste gate it to about 15-20 psi. Origianlly set up to run non-turbo, but can't keep up with the big gassers anymore so we usually keep the turbo on and run different classes. Awesome torgue set up as it is with the non-turbo cam - we can feather off the line and play with the throttle down the track as needed in 8,500 just as easily as 5,500. Don't need to build big boost and burn clutch to get off the line. Pump, injector, and turbo are all from Columbus diesel and seem to work very well together. We have it in an M - but should get it into a bigger rear some day. We call it the m-6 (m-6 = M w/6 cylinders)

I would like to be able to still use this for farming so I dnt want to bore through the water jacket. I dont want to do an engine swap either. I know a guy that wrecked his truck and he might give me his turbo for cheap from a cummins diesel equipped with the banks piece for high psi and quick boost(it had 600+hp). Where is columbus diesel at and where did you get your stroker kit at. Is there anything transmition wise i should look at while it is apart? I am unsure of the engine size but what what bulldozer has the same parts, is it an IH bulldozer.

What engine do you have now? If it is the 263-301 style block, there is alot of add on parts you can use from the older bulldozers that had turbo chargers on them, that used these engines, also largest engine that bolts in the 806 is the 361-407DT series engines, same as the 806-1456 and lots of others. Keep an eye on the shifter, and the tranny on the 806, they get worn out, and not shift well, or gets locked into 2 different gears! Good choice for a project!! They are a good machine! Chad
