Hey fellas. The Clintonia Antique Tractor Pullers added a 4000# and 4500# full cut tire class. I got the official letter last night. The rules will be the same as fun class (4.5 mph), but you can have full cut tires instead of sharpened. One ribbon will be awarded for 1st place. This class was created for guys in our club that pull elsewhere and don't want to change tires before pulling at home. We hope to bring in anyone else too! Just a little addition to add some fun. Let me know if you have questions or comments.

Good job Eathan and Matt. I seem to get on the tech commitee a lot with the Clintonia Club. We try to offer something to everyone who drives into the pull from farm stock to cut and this year front cut. The pullers themselves do a great job of policing the different classes. We had or oversaw about 12 pulls last year and I can't remember a serious disagreement. A road wore or spun backward tire goes into the cut class. Cutting tires is a little bit like being a little bit pregnant. I not really for or against cut tires, I run them on my 3 tractors but I respect anyone who doesn't want to cut theirs. Having cut tires does take away most of the disagreements. One thing we all have to remember is that it will never be perfect and we all have to give a little from time to time. Hope you all have a great pulling season. If you pull with a club that likes to fight and agrue get with Eathan and get a schedule. We have more and more strangers pull with us every year and some of them are really good friends now. Thanks.

If clubs would quit worrying about how a tire is cut they would have a lot less bitching, have classes for cut and uncut not full cut or partial.

right on Ethan ! there is no fightihg that way last year I pulled all the hubbardston pulls and we were fighting like cats and dogs imho road worn, spun back waeds, or ground on bars are all altered I don't think it is fair to run a road worn tire with stock tires because I can cut tires to look road worn run down the pavement to get rid of the few swirl marks I leave and walla I got road worn and in that club road worn and spun back wards was allowed but no cuts were allowed

Hey, you wouldn't believe since we decided on just sharpened tires in our regular classes, it was the best thing we ever did. It keeps the most people happy most of the time. We got enough fellas willing and ready for cut tires so hey, they pay the fee, we're happy to do it.

You can tell a worn tire from a cut tire .I don`t care who or how they are cut. Also not everyone wants torun cut tires.

clintonia's club has the biggest draw of tractors cause they allow cut tires there is NO FIGHTING about tires pure and simple those few who want to be purists can go pull against 1 or 2 per class which is hardly no compition can go head getting first place with two tractors ina weight class to me is'nt what I call fun I'd rather go where there is competition hubbardston voted torun cut tires this year and there attendance will probably go up besides Idon't have the time or cash to run all over to find apair of 14.9's to put on my m I got nice sharp pair of 13.6 and pair of 15.5's that need rims and cutting

Now guy's lets not get our dander up over this, I myself would run nothing but cuts BUT we have to respect the guy's that don't have them because I think that if we sat down and thought about it the farmers that used to go to the fairs or local pulls didn't have cuts and there are still a few die hard old timers that will never cut there tires.

Farm Stock: No cut and no sharpened tires.
Antique/Classic/Fun: Sharpened tires.
New Class: Cut tires.

Just hoping to include a few more guys, not exclude anyone. I don't see a real big croud (crossing fingers) for just 4000# and 4500# cut class, but if it does prove to be worth it, maybe more weight classes would be fun. I'd love a 5000 class. We'll see how it all works out. Open speed would be great, but the club opts against all the wear and tear and extra safety features to keep our sled going for that style of pulling. A couple other clubs offer open pulls around the area to attend. Not sure I have the h.p.!

First of all, the farmers and the original tractors are the ones that started these pulls. Not everyone wants to hack and whack on their antique tractor. I have nothing against anyone who does, but don't try to make everyone conform to you. We need less politics. Adding more classes is gonna give you more competition? You're still gonna have fighting and bickering about tires, people trying to pull in the wrong classes, playing stupid. The fighting and bickering at Hubbardston all started from a couple of guys that deliberately sharpened their tires and then cried like little babies because they weren't legal there.

Point well taken Matt. Some places divide so small, they eliminate the competition we look forward too! I think this cut tire class was more or less so our guys can get in a few runs without changing tires around. They don't care about winning anything, just being there. If by some chance someone can show up and kick their butts, all the more fun!!! Of course if you got a JOHN DEERE, it may be an advantage to have less competition!!! Only kidding. I have a couple first place trophies with my 1939 JD H only because no other 2500# guy showed up (not our club, we're loaded with 2500 guys). We had quite a few 5500 and 6500 machines there at Fowler last year for Farm Stock. I'm hoping to grab a few more fellas this year by inviting some on-line. Bitching and fighting kinda ruins the day don't it. Dad should have his UTU for 5500 and my UBUD for 6500. Both farm stock. Guess it's time for a bigger trailer.
