We had a good pull yesterday and had a good turnout, only trouble was in the div 4 class, those higher hp tractors did some sled damage and had to be repaired to let the rest of the nite go on, question is, alot of people were not happy about it and feel that we need to either accomodate this type, or say not to come back with that caliber of tractor, this is an older sled and the club isn't really wealthy enough to buy a better sled without alot of expense, has anyone had to deal with a problem like this at there club?

Go to a longer chain, or to a higher hook point on the sled. The high HP guys have a little less leverage on the sled, a little more spin off the line, and all the slack in the sled is taken up easier. Don

Sounds like what I heard went on @ Portersville. You know... if you advertise DivIV... your gonna get Div IV tractors, no brainer there. I heard you shut them down for the heavier classes... It is kind of hard to change classes in the middle of the season BUT there is a history of that at that club. Been proving that for the last few years. From what I hear the DIV IV tractors are the least of your worries at that pull...

You guys will do what you want to keep the little "click" going on there... have fun boys. Soon it will only be the "click" pulling against each other.

I was hoping things would change @ Portersville for this year but from what I heard they have only got worse. The only advise I have is, stick with your schedule and rules that the club voted on for this year but try something different... try enforcing the rules for ALL the pullers. As I tryed to tell you guys in the past, CYA, try to think of all the possibilities before hand. Rules are guidelines and everyone will take the rules to the edge. Keep your eyes open but do not forget why we go to the pulls, to have fun!

Hey Jim F,
It sounds to me like there is a little problem with you and the so called "click" there. The thing that I'm confused about is that what does the click have to do with the D-4 pullers? And what kind of rules are being changed in the middle of the season. Do they have winter pulls that are inside or did your season just begin?

LOL... actually I was not there and have not been there yet this year and no the season began in late April I believe. Yes, I had an little problem last spring, no sweat I went back a few more times last year. Really no big deal as far as I am concerned. BUT, they do have some problems... as far as the "click" and the DIV IV... they do not want them there.

It is a shame because they have lost alot of the originating members in that club... they need to step back and look at things. I have been a member and very active in that club since the beginning up to last year when things really started going sour... lots of places to pull and I have no hard feelings toward anybody. As I said before lets not forget we are there to have fun.

Maybe suggest a speed limit? less wear and tear on the sled. Just my opinion, Chad

I know, I like to run faster too, but based on what he said, they are breaking the sled because of them. Which yes, that does happen sometimes, things break. I only mentioned a speed limit, for a safety issue. Not to rag on the speedsters out there!! Or, simply, the club ought to spend a few bucks, to have the equipment reliable to stop these types of tractors. Problem solved??? Chad

I have personally seen the sleds in this area boken more times by stock tractors and when they came out with the speed limit the supers broke it more from getting in out of the throttle, and they claim the speed limit was about safety too then they decided to let V-8 modifieds pull and guess what no speed limit the speed limit is about certain people in a click wanting to stay competitive, if you are going to have a super class pull there should not be a speed limit stock yes because different tractors were geared differently,If you don't have the sled to handle them and can't afford the changes to the sled or for another sled don't pull the tractors.

Tell the guys with the big HP tractor to come to Tennesse, they are more than welcome to run wide open around here and the sleds WILL stop them. I love speed myself!

Thanks for the offer but I doubt I'll be riding to any pulls that are more than 3 hrs one way.

I understand that. We have a few Fri and Sat. pulls. It might be worth the drive to come down to one of those pulls. Be assured that you or anyone else with a good tractor won't hear anyone cry because you have too much HP!
