Slow antiques??? My freind, it has nothing to do with having a slow, or fast tractor. Boring or not, it is fun, and that is why we are all on here for. To have a good time, and maybe share a part of someones life that wants to share their success story. You don't need a 100,000 dollar puller to be a tractor puller, just an antique, and a dream. Tell you something else, I would not ever, in my life, trade, or sell my "Something Wilder" Farmall H for any of the best names of pulling has to offer. I dont care about how much money they are worth, that is not my point, that ol H made me some memories to remember forever. It has taught me more about pulling than any thing else. It is my best freind, and my hot rod all wrapped up into IH red paint. Slow antiques,,, maybe,,,, but we will be there, at the end of the track, just like the big boys do. Just my opinion about slow antiques! ChadS

I would put a slow a$$ M-M 504, 605, 585, or HD800 up against a high revving pi$$ ant motor they make now ANY DAY. Remember these slow a$$ machines were abused on the farm for 50 years, then had their horsepower doubled only to do more work on the farm and pulling track. In 50 more years they will still be here.

i have one.i watch all classes though, but if it is like here in MN the antiques seem to have a problem of too many tractors with class limits being set at alot of them now.also i read someone compared the silver bullet to a NHRA drag car,i couldn't agree more.
i am in favor of the component chassis rule as it is mainly for safety, but i can't seem to remember a 1066 IH or 4440 JD or a 2-180 white with spark-plugs.

Yes Silver Bullet is one of our competitors. Very good on the Wyoming, Mi (duh). The problem with the antiques is that most of the time you see the same tractor in SEVERAL different weight classes( kind of boring huh). Like said different strokes for different folks.. I was just asking a question... You guys hurt my feelings..... .

You trying to tell us you only like to pull a max on two classes. Most of the guys I run with take every opportunity they get to pull. Most bring 2-3 tractors to cover more weight classes. And how many pulls does your "real" tractor see in a season. We hit 2-3 pulls every weekend from June through Sept.

sounds like most of you guys could use a reality check, here in MN their is alot of places where the antiques still pull with everyone else.
only a few think that the only tractors worth watching are the ones they pull, the rest are normal.

Maybe this game isn't all about the type of tractor pulled. Maybe its being able to take stock parts and make the best of them. Adapting to what is on the tractor. Sure, we may not hit 30 mph down the track, but maybe it is a little more driving skill. Maybe its some of the best home grown mechanics and engine builders. We may not have the big dollars to invest, but we have fun with what we do. Get on an antique. It may not go 30 mph, but it sure feels bad when you can't read a track and get beat because of driving skill.

what are you saying?it sounds like you are telling me it takes more skill to get a 50hp antique down the track than it does to get 1000 hp down the track.
it also sounds like you believe that all smokers are high dollar which is not true either,i'll bet i have less into my smoker than alot of guys have into antiques.
i have pulled antiques before, and like i said i don't mind them but it is nothing like getting a smoker down the track. to put on a good show you need to realize that each class has its own following be it pick-ups,antiques,field tractors or the open diesels.
the people that thinks everyone in the stands is there just to watch them are confused.

Ok, here's the thing. This is yesterday's tractor. Its antique tractors. Sure, you may have less in your smoker than some guys have in their antques, but on average, probably not. I think I have about $1000 in my Super M. Ya, each class has their own following. Each region of the U.S. has their more popular classes. I have put on a couple pulls, so don't think I am just some random guy. I may be only 22, but I have been pulling for ten years and going to pro pulls since before I was born. To each is their own.

read the home page for yesterdays tractors,it does not say antiques only.
what it does say is pre 1975 tractors,so no it is not only for antiques.
like i said before i don't mind antiques at all,i even have more than a couple of friends that pull them.
but on the other hand i have yet to see a antique bring 5000 people to their feet.

So, we don't all blow flames, throw dirt everywhere or blow a lot of smoke. Ya, hardly any smoke is being blown right now. Numbers wise, there are probably more antique pullers than these real pullers. Probably more antique tractor pulls put on than "real" pulls. Sure, a "real" tractor may make 5000 people stand up, but not many have ever seen 500 stand for 7 hours. Seen hundreds of hooks in one weekend. Antique pulling is a real competition. Real tractors looking more like they did years ago.

stay in your little world where antiques rule the pulling world, like i said before i don't mind them.
i have friends that pull antiques and i watch them when i can,not real thrilling but i like tractors so i watch.
the one thing that holds true with most antique pullers is they are cry babies,example.. we have a 17 year old kid up here that has a 560D with a turbo pulling in the antique open class, not a first place tractor but a constant top 5. he can't pull in the open class anymore because he has a turbo, why?
he has a open invitation to pull the antique open class in my hometown,if anyone don't like it they are welcome to go home.
what part of "open says he can't have a turbo?
he has twice the safty equipment that most of them have, the rest are willing to make a fool of themself over a trophy.
i realize that it is a few doing it,but the talk loader than the rest.

Hehe! It's always funny to go to one of our pulls and watch the hot rods; after they manage to get 'em started, that competition clutch grabs and ya thank god no one was killed while they were being unloaded...same thing on the scales and in the pits...then they get out on the track, engines screaming, tires spinning, mud flying, and for all that money that was spent on 'em, they usually pull about 10' further than the same weight stock class tractors...oh yeah, forgot to mention the front end rearing up too! No thanks, I'll continue to pull with my REAL original slow a$$ antiques. Pete

This is Yesterday's Tractor--Duh!!! There are several web sites dealing with "real tractors" such as NTPA, ATPA, and many other pulling asso. and clubs. Most of the big name real tractor pullers have their own web sites also. So do a search and find the real tractor pullers you love so much. While there ask them when was the last time they had a 3 day pull with nearly 800 hooks like Tunica, MS. has. Or ask them why we pull all year round and their season is a long and grualing 5 months. They have more money in their back tires and wheels than I do in my 2 slowa$$ pullers. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I went to Loretta Lynn Dude Ranch in Tn this past weekend,if them so called tractors that was up there is what he is calling "real tractors" he probly hasn't ever seen a real tractor. When you can strattle a 50 year plus old tractor and get it to pull a sled weighing 2 to 8 times it weight and when you get to the end of your pull your tractor can be driven back to it's parking place and not have to be towed. In my opnion that's a "REAL TRACTOR"

You all are getting to out of shape because of a question. Relax, we all have hobbies that some of all can't afford. I'll be honest, I wish I had a tractor like the Silver Bullet, but there is alot of $$$,$$$'s to into it to be competitive. They do put on on good show, I travel around Mid-Missouri with a friend that has a Super Farm class tractor as part of the crew. When I'm not running with them, I participate in antique pulls, but I don't pull as often as I want to. Pulling season is during hay season, so my puller drags a bailer before it get hooked to a sled. Everybody needs to be reminded, we all have hobbies that we all enjoy & can afford.

Funny, around here these "slow a$$ antiques" are often seen running in excess of 5000 rpms, spinning 18.4-38 v-cut tires, moving down the track at12 to 15 mph, hmmmmm , yeah pal, all those old antiques are just slow and boring, huh????? Why don't you tell us all what a real tractor is then??? let me guess, "The Silver Bullet"?? A tractor that is not even a tractor any more, and most of all, one that you could surely never afford to own. Aint that right son??

Antique Pulling was never a big spectator sport. But then how many of us get paid to pull. It's an aquired taste for people interested in old iron. The same could and has been said for NASCAR racing. Who wants to watch 35 cars chase each other around in circles for two hours? Well, like this kid said elsewhere "different strokes ..." Spectators watch what their intereseted in. The only real thrills at an antique pull are for the drivers when their tractor stands up. Hiho Silver, away.

Did a hole in the yard---someone is always going to fall in----you can talk about a man's wife, but leave his dog, his truck and his tractor alone! Tractor pullers, from unstyled G's to Silver Bullet, are all boys playing with their toys, I know super farm pullers, NTPA, that owe a couple of antiques to have something to do in the winter. If the best you can do is 'belittle' other classes than your own, and it happens at Bowling Green Ohio as much as it does on here, you've no asset to pulling, or the pulling community. James Weaver, of Stauton Virginia, has a 600 cu in LaGod built 1466 hot farm, and 2 Super M Pullers! Wheeler Ritter, of Circleville, Ohio, used to pull twin Donovans----now follows the antique circuit. Both men appreciate all pullers and their choice of machines, classes; they aren't on here bitchin' or complain'----you name the class, and the style, they're out their pulling!!!BigART

exactly, that is my point. i don't pull antique, but i watch them, along with anything else that hooks to the sled.
each class has its own following and is needed to put on a good show. you will always have the few load mouths blowing smoke about this or that and the whiners here and there.
but for the most part i have met very few pullers that would not help a fellow puller out,be it throwing weights or lending parts.
