Have 70 LP, Wanna build a puller

Hey all,

I have several John deere letter series tractors as a hobby and stress reliever.
One of my distant family left me several tractors a few weeks ago and we brought them home, one of them is a model 70 LP. It has been sitting long enough for the rings to stick, so I will be building the engine. While I am at it I want to build a pulling machine out of it.

I need suggestions in bore, stroking, heads, carb, and flywheel, as well as ignition (I have several MSD 6AL types from cars)

I work as a engineer for a motorsports company and have access to a fully equipped machine shop, so wild is ok.

Thanks in advance.

A powerblock or sleeve the origional way oversize. Install 70 all fuel valves that have been cut to length. Blend the edges out of the valve bowls & Robert's camshaft. Deere 329 diesel rods and stroke the crank to but not through the back of the crankcase. Dry aircleaner conversion inside the stock oil bath. About 10 to 1 compression. Install the 70 diesel 1st reduction gear set to slow all the speeds to 7/8 of origional. Check the JD area of this site on how to keep the flywheel tight.

I'd like to slow my 51 G down but didn't know if I could replace the pulley and reduction gear from a 70 diesel to obtain this?

I drilled and taped the crank on all of our pullers and built a round "plate" so to say, drilled a hole in it, and put a bolt through it to press the flywheel on, and pull the crank tight...some have to have a recess in it so it will hit the flywheel...just my way of doin it.....

We are taling about dropping a 70 spark ignition and G ground speed to 7/8 of origional. By dropping in a set of 70 diesel 1st reducton gears. Your are working on the other end of the crank. Myself, I'll purchase a taper-loc flywheel to ensure the flywheel doesn't move in any direction.
