Chad S. question for ya?? I have a heavy spring that I got from you a while back, and finally got it in the super M and went pulling today, didn't do to bad two 3rds and a 4th, but the governor surged really bad at 5000, and got better as the weight went up. Help!!! tried to adjust but out of ideas. just hate seeing it surge and loosing traction due to the surging. thanks

Glad to hear you done well, Sounds like you have a good running Super M to make the governor surge! You are not using the HP you have at that light of weight. But, there is a solution, and I have to ask you a few questions to try and help. 1, do you have a 2 weight or a 4 weight governor? 2. what rpm are you running, and gear.
3. how many hp is it? rough estimate..
4, what size tires do you have, and allowed to run?

What I am seeing here is that you have power, but not working the engine enough to make it hook, and not surge. A few things can help, Tire size affects ground speed, when you speed up, you use more power to run a bit faster. It works on the same principal, as weighting up. Tire pressure will help too.

At this time, this is the best advice I can give you, Surging is caused by too much power, and worn governor weight pins. Hope this helps, ChadS

1) its a 2 weight gov
2) stock rpm and 1st gear(pulling stocker class)
3)60-65hp, haven't dyno it yet, still getting the bugs worked out.
4) have 13.5X38's, on now but have 15.5X38's planning on puttting them on. and we are just allowed two sizes larger than stock on tires. I did lower tire pressure to see if that helped, but didn't seem to, actually had to back off the throttle at 6500, to stop it from surging, and the sled was terrible, you hooked about 12 feet away!!! you say worn gov weight pins? know were I could get some new ones??? thanks
