Another wonderful rule

Well, the Deere boys built another rule in their favor.

COATPA has a 8500 lb class for "farm stock". 1972 and older, so mostly the 4010, 4020 Deeres, a 4320, an 806, and others. 8000 Ford, 1155 Massey Ferguson, etc. Allow a small turbo, diesel only.

Well, they didn't put the cid inch rule in, but instead they decided that all tractors have to run a Roosamaster pump. Doesn't matter that the Fords, Cases, Masseys, and others had an inline pump. They have to bolt on a Roosamaster instead of using their stock pump because a Roosamaster won't push as much fuel through it. That's the explanation I got from one of the guys who pulls the class on a Deere. Then I asked him why gas tractors couldn't pull. He said because the gassers would eat the diesels for lunch with a turbo. Asked him about a naturally aspirated gasser. Said no, diesels only.

Another case of beat it in committee, not on the track.

Slo,
That is fairly stupid, in regards to the pump, but if they are not allowed to use to big of turbo you can still get more feul than you can use out of a Rotary pump. It is a Pain in the butt for the boys that would have to change pumps. I know what you mean about stupid rules. It almost makes a person want to quit messing with pulling, and to just go back and farm as a hobby. Later, Greg H.

At least the pump can be changed and a set of lines made up to work. No fun at all if you want to pull a Detroit Diesel powered tractor. The injectors are the pump!

Farm stock COATPA rules say a maximum of 2700 rpm. No cubic inch limit, chassis rules not terribly restrictive, but the turbo size is limited. And this is designed to make a DEERE
the favored tractor? Not for nothin', but there
has to be a large group of 66 series IH owners
that will be jumping for joy!

I haven't seen Central Ohio check RPM's in almost two seasons. The last time I saw the farm stock class run, they were turn alot harder than 2700.
