There is a very nice looking Case VAC at the local tractor dealer that was just traded in. Do any of you guys pull VAC's or have seen them pull? How big can you build the motor? Doing some research for a future lightweight tractor puller and wondered if it was worth looking into buying. Thanks.

The 188-201 gas combine engine is longer (18.875 stock verses 20.5) Very easy to tell. It is NOT
a direct bolt in eather. Bell housing much bigger on 188-201. One can make the bigger engine
fit but is noticeable to the trained eye. Most clubs rules say same length block. Hope this helps. Farmall Ps I use to work for CASE and made simaler swaps in the mid seventies.

No just how is a modified VAC with a combine motor stock? If you are going to be modified pull modified. The whole purpose of stock classes is for stock tractors to pull. "Sleeper stock" tractors take the fun out of it for guys that are truely stock.

I don't pull stock with mine, but your fighting a loosing battle, because there are far more un-stock tractors pulling then stock. 700+ cube JD G's Allis WC's with WD-45 engines or cranks. Were do you draw the line?? Electronic ignition?? 23% tires?? There are many Farmall B's out there with 153 power units running in stock. Shaved heads?? 20" drawbars?? were does it end?? I say make some rules with a 3-1/2 MPH speed limit for stock and let them role. If you don't win then get your wallet and tool box out and work with it till it does win.

That is really about all you can do. If it looks stock from the outside I guess it is stock. RPM limit and MPH limit helps. If it is a good track they may still have an advantage but not always. I have been beaten by them and I have beat them. Depends on the moon, how you hold your mouth, if the pulling gods are smiling, and all those other magic things the good pullers won't share. If everyone pulls the same draw bar height and you limit tire size to "close" to what came on it then the big cubes are "equalled out". Now if you happen to see them starting that 700 inch G with 1/4" ball valves for petcocks and the starter will barely turn it with them open . . . . . . . . .

Get ahold of Casepower. I believe he adapted a 201 combine engine in to one. Sounds like a pretty bad a$$ setup.
