I AM READY TO BUTTON UP THE REAREND ON MY 51 G I'M BUILDING FOR PULLING. BUT BEFORE I DO, ARE THERE ANY TRICKS FOR KEEPING THE RING GEAR FROM SPINNING ON THE CARRIER. I HAVE HEARD THIS IS A WEAK POINT. A FRIEND OF MINE SHEARED THE WASHERS AND BROKE THE RIVETS ON HIS, HE WELDED THE RING GEAR SOLID. DOESN'T SEEM LIKE A GOOD FIX, WELDING CAST IRON TO HARDENED STEEL. MY TRACTOR IS 600+ CID AND SHOOTING FOR 100+ HP. SPENDING WAY TOO MUCH FOR A $5 TROPHY, BUT WE DON'T WANT TO SEND A BOY TO DO A MAN'S JOB, NOW DO WE? ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, THANKS.

Sheared the sides off the three dowell pins on mine. I got another complete assembly and drilled a 3/8 hole half way between the existing pins, and drove a 7/16 soft bolt through each hole and trimed to the right length. I was givin this advice from a retired John Deere mechanic. He told of a gear in 4020's that had been a problem, and this had corrected it. I've had no problem since. Hope this helps, Don
