Just saw a 570 h.p. Cummins last weekend with propane injection setup. Do any of the hot diesels out there run propane? What's involved in this little trick. Sounds pretty neat to me. I think they used to do that to tractors in the 1960s (before I was around).

Only 570hp... are you sure he wasn't just running on #2.... haha.. One of the highest 5.9 Cummins on dyno reported was 799.. by Joe D.. on #2 only... (and on a single charger.) there have been a few other higher.. but were running other injected stuff.. and twins... (Check out the tdr1.com and go to the competition forum..) The Propane injection works good.. better on a turbo charged engine.. but works on both... it can also be hard on a head gasket.. ( not as hard as an NOS..) The systems can range from a regulator, with a 12V valve, a needle valve and some piping.. to a multi staged system, that varies using vaccum and is throttle activated.. Check out some of the performace Diesel web sites.. most have info on the different systems..

This is a link to one of my favorite Truck pulling sites... I can spend hrs here.. lol..

I sometimes read a couple of Mopar mags, and in one issue they had a chassis dyno set up at a show. Hemis, 440s and the like were all dynoing to see what they were putting to the rear wheels. The winner? A Dodge 3/4-ton 4wd Cummins with propane injection that was laying down 780 hp at the rear tires.
