I am a chevy man, there is no doubt of dening it. I have 2 buddies that have a the Duramax engine in there 3/4 tons,& they semm to like it. Average 16 mpg on the highway, not sure when pulling a load. They are good trucks to me. the 6.6 liter has alot of power & the Allison trans is dependable to transfer that. If they put the Allison in road tractors, it should be very tough in a light duty truck. The Ford is a good truck. In 04', the 6.0 liter was put in them, I can't say I hear any bad things said about them. Plenty of power is availble when you need it. Today, the Ford pickup is the truck to buy. Everyone praises the 6.0 & the auto behind it. Ford has always been known to have the strongest chassis out there. There has been rumor that in the future Ford will have a Catipiller engine in their trucks. Dodge would be my preference if I were to get a Diesel truck, mainly for the inline 5.9 liter Cummins. It is my belief that you will have more torque with a inline engine than any V-8, why would they put more inlines in road tractors. If you were to go with an automatic, that would be the only down fall, but there is a 9-stage power "chip" that you can plug in that will give you up to 250 hp, but the transmission will not hold up. Dodge is a great truck, for now until there contract with Cummins expires in 2008 (Ford owns Cummins). Between a Ford or a Chevy, I would stick to my roots & get a Chevy. Those trucks have been proven year after year to be free of defects & are easier to work on than a Ford. When Chevy came out with the Duramax, they had some problems with the heads. They have some problems today with the injectors, if one goes bad, they change them all out on the bad side, yet they will look at the other to make sure everything looks bad on the other. That my opinion on that.
