Would it be possible to design a web browser that only displayed postings relevant to tractor pulling? I think its kinda sad when your kids think tractor pulling is neat, but you can't let your kids read an old tractors bulletin board. Believe me, they quickly figure out what _uck means.

Probably YT needs a separate board called "Bashing". All of the boards could use it. If someone wants to bash a tractor or a person, they would simply post (or post a reply), "Kindly refer to the Bashing Board". Anyone interested in that sort of thing could jump to the Bashing Board and read the post. Seems that should satisfy both the need for civility and the urge to bash!

To have and keep freedom we must also have morals, values & adhere to them. Freedom does not allow a person to what ever they want, when they want & how they want. Freedom means responsability. Freedom of speach does not give you the right to yell "FIRE" in a crowded theater. One has to be responsable & realize your actions & just as importantly your LACK of actions affect others. Without ethics we are no better than children running loose in a candy store. We may enjoy our excesses but they will eventualy be our undoing. Abuse your freedom & it will be taken away. Every great nation has not fallen due to an outside army but because of rot from within.

Do you think responding to a post is the same as
yelling "Fire" in a crowded theatre? Hardly! This
example,by Chief Justice Holmes I believe it was,
was used as an example of one of the few times that freedom of speech should be curtailed. You also have it backwards on the loss of freedoms.
According to Thomas Jefferson the way individuals
loose their freedoms and rights is by NOT exercising them. Also I might add by not responding
to the facist in our society who would try to
take those rights from us.

First of all I have been guilty of using the __underscore option of speech. Gary I believe the man is only trying to raise his kids in a manner that he was probably raised. Don't you think you would be offended or upset if someone called a family member of yours and started dropping the F-Bomb or every other form of profanity. I certainly would. I doubt that you would say "It's OK because this person is exercising his freedom of speech." I'll fight right beside you when it comes to preserving our rights. However, don't be confused with someone who is trying to avoid the profanity while getting their young family interested in antique tractors with someone who you feel is curtailing your freedom of speech.

My pappy once said" the freedom to swing your fist stops where the other persons nose begins" this can be applied to this argument somehow, Also he said " profanity is evidence of a weak mind trying to express itself forcibly " another? " If the shoe fits , put it on"

I agree with you about the profanity and I have almost never used it on my posts, but you can't
really use profanity on this board, you have to have known what the word was previously. Also nobody is calling anybody up,they are doing the
calling. Is this the only place profanity exists
in our society?Do kids watch TV,movies or listen
to records if so they certainly aren't being led
astray by a few --- or #$%^ on some forum board.
Words by themselves are nothing its what you are
conditioned for them to mean.Example are you shocked if you hear the four letter word describing that well known place of eternal punishment when a preacher uses it? Probably not.
But in another text its profanity.I'd rather not
hear profanity, but will put up with it,because stopping it probably means you can stop any speech.

If your kids quickly figure out what _uck means they probably learned it somewhere else and are applying their knowledge to what they read on this board. The board is not teaching your kids profanity, they're simply seeing language they already know. Free speech is a wonderful thing in this country. It has some similarities to our free competition market. If you don't like it...don't buy it...or simply go somwhere else and get it. If your product (or your speech) is thought to be without value then the the public will ignore you and seek other ways of satisfying their needs. A simple but effective system we have.

Many have tried and all have failed to clean this board up. If someone that never has had any involvement in pulling read this board they would be immeadiatley convinced that tractor pullers hate everything and everyone. The things allowed on here don`t make me want to send YT $8.00 for the privilige of reading them. Scott

Hey JD 70 what do you mean "clean this board up"?
Why do you or anyone else think they have a right
to dictate what is said in an open forum.Old buddy
check your address it probably says USA on the end
this means that all opinions are equal, yours is
no better than mine and mine is no better than yours. What are you and people like you afraid of?
Why are you bothered by others opinions,I ask you
to accept or reject others opinion, but please do not try to censor them. There are if you are not
aware plenty of places to live where opinions are
controled Cuba,Iran, Red China all come to mind
but doubt you'd like their way or doing things.
So get over it,haven't heard any big grass roots
movement to change the 1st amendment to the U.S.
Bill of Rights because Old Winey JD 70 don't like what's being said on the Tractor pulling board!
Also I sent in $8.04 the first 2 cents to cover
the usefull information I've gotten from you and
the other 2 cents for anyone who agrees with you.

You are entitled to your opinion, I never said anyone wasn`t. The crap of bashing each other personally on here is what needs stopped. If you think personal attacks are OK, then that`s your opinion. But I don`t find it necessary to attack you or anyone personally to express my opinion on any subject on here. Scott

What you or I find relavant or necessary really
shouldn't have any standing when someone else expresses their opinion.Opinions are like tractors
whats crap to one person is what is the most important thing to another. If you can censor "crap" as you call it then you can censor
anything. When you live in a society where free
expression is protected [thank God the old USA does] then you get it ALL not just part,I don't
want anyone else deciding what I need to read, do
or say.

If you want to talk tractor pulling talk tractor pulling. If you just want to talk tractors or questions on them thats fine. All this other B.S. of personaly attacking people just because you don't like what their saying or the brands they perfer or what kind of rules that their pulls go by "is crap!" Sure some times people try and give advise on things they don't really know about or are trying to see what you'll belive, but any info that you get should be researched before attempted anyways. Lets just talk tractor pulling.

Still no need to swear on the site.Isn't this site privately owned? If so that would mean the owner dictates what is censored and that we have no free speach hear. Using this site has been a privilage not a right.

mind can fill in the blanks, owners of sites just
like store owners or car dealers come under Equal
Protection and Equal Access Laws. You guys who want
to censor speech and curtail free expression of
ideas are a disgrace to all in this country's
history who have fought for you to have these freedoms, you make me puke.

Hey Gary,
I'd almost bet you are one of those 'i have the right to free speecher's' but give me your Guns kinda guys. There are two peoples rights here, your right (and responsibility) to free speech, and my rights to NOT hear your speach. When does my right or you right become more important, it doesnt. That my friend, is dealt with by having respect for others. In many States it is still illegal to swear in front of women and children, that does NOT restrict your freedom of expressing your thoughts and ideas, just the manner in which you express them, which ultimately my friend, means your freedom of speech has NOT be curtailed.
Thanks for the time and for the freedom of free speech.

I'll agree that swearing is a borderline area of
free speech, but I'd rather error on the free speech side and just for the record I support the 2nd
admendment as being the most important, because that allows us "common people" to demand all the
rest of the Bill of Rights,in fact Virginia, the
state I live in has a Right to carry a concealed
weapon law which I fully support.

One should remember before making implications as to what rights you support, there are others that support the same right. (Some are a little more extreme in thier views)

The one thing I DO NOT have to worry about is what rights I CHOOSE to support. My rights as a free man are complete. My rights do not and should not infringe on others rights. Extreamist do NOT fit into this... they DO infringe on others rights by insisting that theirs is the only view deemed correct, consistent with the constitution and bill of rights or not. We have became a soft nation full of soft people who want to run things from fear and not from strength. Fear is the greatest restrictor of freedom of all.

My Idea of an extreamist is what most would simply consider a liberal.. Not someone who wants the constitution to be followed. I fear the 'dreaded militias' much less than I do the liberal agenda.

P.S. The "dreaded militia" is simply putting the militia in the terms of the mainstream press, not my views. I try to pass judgement on individual actions, not stereotypes.

BY the way Gary, what color is your tractor.. I dont pull (cant afford to yet..) but I favor the 'other' green tractors. What I learned to drive on.

I only know you by what you write which I feel is
short sighted and not very well thought out, without the Constitution and the Bill of Rights you better believe that the average person in this country would be alot worse off.I don't agree with alot I see and read, I may even despise
what someone has said, but I'll tell you what I'll
do whatever it takes to defend them from anyone who would
infringe on there right to say what they want,
because if someone can stomp on your rights they can
stomp on mine, you are only as free as the most
worse off person in the society you live in.

Don't know to much about the organization you are
refering to but doesn't sound like something I'd
support. There is a big difference between things
that seek you out [ex someone coming to your house] than there is when you go searching out
other people and there opinions. When you go to this or any other forum you are searching, you have
to click the person's name to get their opinion
is doesn't automatically jump out at you.You have "asked" their opinion, when you ask then you get what you get,if you didn't want their opinion then
don't ask.I'm sure not going to sit around trying
to figure out if my opinion is going to offend someone when I post.MY opinion is mine and if you
can't bear to read it then don't click my name, problem
solved!
