I just bought a 1983 F-250 with a 6.9 diesal just wondering if there any good or not and if i can get any more power by turning the pump up.

I've got a '86 with the 6.9. It will pull but you have to be patient with it. It'll help some to advance the pump about the thickness of a nickle and turn the fuel screw a round or so. [Don't know how much power it makes, but the black smoke works great on those packs of bicycle riders that won't get the hail out of the way.]

They are decent engines. On those year F-350's, watch the leaf spring frame mounts. Theey have a bad habit of rusting out and breaking. About the only thing I can tell you about the 6.9, is that if it runs decent, dont leak or drink oil, starts good all the time, just leave her stock ,and drive it. Later model 7.3L non turbo diesils are the same. So there may be a better power upgrade if the 6.9 does not work out. Chad
