I was wondering what the differece between a gas farmall m head and a LP farmall m head. thanks for any help.

Spencer, not all 400's had the #384586R1 head.
Just the later one's and 450's. They are aprox. 128 cc's chamber volume were the 8060 M head is around 200 cc's. These numbers are for heads that have NOT been shaved down. The flow is much better on the LP head verses the M head also. Hope this helps Farmall
