I understand all but the last rule!! I see no avantage of a worm gear drive..... ..... ..... ..... ..

"10. NO: Four wheel drive tractors, dual rear wheels, tire chains, half tracks, crawler tractors or tractors with implements are not allowed. No Fordson tractors are allowed. (Because of Worm Gear Drive)"

I have read many articles about Fordsons. They had a very bad reputation for tipping over backwards while pulling a load. I don't know if this is caused by the worm drive or not. It is my understanding that the worm drive is the least effective way to change direction of power 90 degrees.

Most flip overs was when they were hooking chains around the axles, because the drawbar was low. The fenders took care of the tipping problem. The worm gear is a power robbing set up, but I just can't understand why they would ban them. Here's a link to the pulling rules. I don't even know were it is located.
