What are people doing for cranks in their stroked G's. What brands are working well, what brand holds together.... anybody going billet (sp?)

Thanks.

If it helps, I wanna go between a 9 and 10 inch stroke; I wanna go big and get this done right the first time around.

Both Schooler and Merfeld (563-582-8710) seem to put out very good cranks. A lot of John Deere guys use them. I run a 8.75" Merfeld crank and have had no problems. The mid to high 9's is where you could run into trouble. Some people run cranks that size for years with no problems, others have continual problems. Driving style probably has something to do with that as well as regular care. A few people have gone billet with the only downside being price, usually several thousand dollars. But it could pay for itself by not having to have new cranks made because your old one broke and also with the peace of mind you'll have knowing it's not going to break.
