Hello, I have a farmall H that trew a rod though the side of the block, so I then thought it might be alot of fun to change the engine to something alittle more powerful, but I had a guy tell me it would be hard to find a pull that would allow me to pull it if I did this because the engine wouldn't be factory and I couldn't even pull it in the open classes. I think this is kinda strange because the 8N's with the funk conversions can pull, so why not allow anything to pull in the open classes?.

There is 2 "Other engines" that will bolt into the farmall H bellhousing, with very little modifications. The C-200 will bolt in, and so will the IH 6 cyl from 460-806, gas or diesel. The 200 is the 4cyl version of the 6 cyl, uses the same flywheel, clutch from the 460, it is the same dimentions as the H flywheel, all you have to do is cut the diameter of the flywheel down, where the starter ring is mounted, to adapt the H starter ring to the 460 flywheel. the rest is cake work. As far as frame rails, the 460 row crop rails bolt right on the H, and makes front engine mounts simple! Just depends on how wild you want to go, but I hope this helps give you a few more options for your H. ChadS

I was thinking of using a 353 Detroit. I got a chance to buy a rebuilt aluminum block 353 for cheap. I had only got to pull this tractor once last year in a farm stock class, but then during maple sugaring I was using it to pull my sap trailer and the engine unexpectidly threw a rod.
