what kind of tractor? I've got a G JD that used to pull Div. 3, about 90 horse and it's more than enough for second gear in 5500 and 6000.

Are you running a stroker crank in your G?

Stroker crank, gas pistons, head/carb/manifold all flowed.

You need enough power to run 3.5mph in a gear that runs your engine at about half throttle but you have enough extra power so that as the weight travels farther and it becomes more difficult to pull you can keep opening the throttle gradually and maintain your speed without overpowering the track and spinning out. The idea is to maintain without spinning your tires yet have enough power to not bog down. Horsepower is only part of the answer. Tires and weighting are equally important and you must have all three. To answer your question we have an 88 with 150hp in division 3 and a U with about 110hp. Both work quite well. aRt

ANOTHER gingerich customer slowly fading into div 3! I bet that is fun pulling that 150 hp (?????) 88 against all those 100 hp or less tractors who div 3 was set up for!! You should be really proud with a win!!

get lost, it doesn't matter if you have 800 horsepower when you have the speed limit.

That's NOT the point! I was noting how a "devout Gingerich boy" was now laying that HP stomping Plain City material into Div 3. I'm sure that'll make Lawrence proud!!!

Yeah all that obsolete high priced iron from Lemmons, Duke, Shipman, Denny's (okay so the post needed a bit of humor), etc. winds up in division 3. Big surprise there. This is been going on for how many years now?

NO, a little humor would have been if you said Bob Sharp!! Where has Bobby been lately, anyone know? Is he still trying to build engines??
