Thanks to all who offered their advice/help on here the other day. I got to the pull about an hour ahead of time and got signed in, at about 10.30 we had to go and get weighed but my 6030 just wouldn't fit on the scales (along with most of the other tractors) and then came the inspection. Other than a chrome stack and the fuel turned up a bit it is as standard so we were ok. There was only myself and one other who were running 2wd tractors in the farmers class out of about 25 tractors. I had decided on 16 psi for the tyres and 5th gear and had the drawbar set as high as I could. When my turn came I hooked up and let her go in a cloud of black smoke, kept on goin till I got to just short of the 70 metre mark, the wheels were still movin but I was'nt- just run out of grip. I am pleased with how I did I came about 12th in the results I think and mine was the oldest machine there. All the others were from local farms and all were nearly new with powershift or vario trannys Fendts, JD 6920 7710 6800 etc. Thanks again for the advice, all I need now is a 619 motor and water in the tires. !

glad you enjoyed yourself. Still I think you should give ol stan a call 217-774-3821. Hes been pulling for 30yrs and could custom build you more power than you know what to do with. and could tell you how to set weights so next time you kickas- and take names

I agree with buickanddeere. I think you can do much better, and don't worry about dropping in a 6619 until you use all the power your 6531 is making. Get more weight on the back end to keep it hooked up, and don't worry if your front wheels are a foot or two off the ground at the end of the track - you have brakes to keep you going straight. Did you have the diff-lock engaged? That might help you stay hooked a little better too, but of course it will disengage as soon as you hit a brake - unless you disconnect the linkage from the brakes to the lock and attach a lever to it as I've seen guys do before on 4020s. There's a 6030 that pulls in my neck of the woods in the 18,500 lb. classes and a small kid could walk under the front tires when he gets to the end of a good track - it always comes down to him and the same 4640 QR. Your tractor has a BUNCH of potential left in it.

Still had weight on the front end? Going have to get you into the top three next time. If the drawbar wasn't max legal height for the class, you'll need a hammer strap to get it up there. If the spin out holes were low in the middle the tires were too tight. If still weight on the front, the drawbar needs to be streched out longer.

There is a 619 motor, as refered to by Chris, for sale without turbo and p-pump on pulloff.com for 1250.00, or will sell head or short block only for 700.00. Nice bolt in for a 6030, 1/2 stroker makes a 680cu in, nice motor for pro-farm. BigART
