I have a Z moline, want to pull it but every pull i see H farmall or oliver's winning in the 4500# class.I know there is alot more of these pulling but the Z just dont seem to compete good. Sure would like to see 4500# class being won with a moline.

I have a MM ZAU that we had pulled against a IH Super H,, tha super H is a tough tractor to beat but ya know what,, the MM out pulled it!!! only 1 hp difference in the 2,, MM-42hp, and the super H 43hp. I like those little MM tractors,, same classic MM sound, and yet, not so heavy on the truck!!! LOL does your Z have the 206ci engine? Chad

How do you keep a Z frontend down? I have never seen such a poorly balanced tractor. It is a wonder farmers weren't killed with them.

The first thing I did was to fill up the front tires full of water, I know exactly what you mean,, way too light on the noses just by themselves,,, added a few weights to it as well, on the rims, that bolted on, our club allows any type of brackets for the front wheels, providing it is a stock, front rim style weight. That Z,, I got, though,, it out pulled the super H in distance,, did not win the percentage pull it competed in,, 2nd place to the super H,, even though I drove both tractors,, the Z by far,, had the torque to lug much harder than the H could. Zs just don"t balance well although I have seen some win before. The motor has less potential overall compared to other brands...not to say a guy could not do some sweet tricks in one. A well balanced R with a Z engine in 4500 class could do well if the tranny would take it. Who runs the "skinny minnie" ZTU? It runs good IN 3500#!!!!! Us work better and balance good.

I have a "R" with a "Z" engine it seems to be balance very well and i pull the 3500# class, but on a hard track and a sled with a short chain i would be short on power in the 4500# class

In stock tractor pulling horse power does not always win. I have a 40 horse Super H that beats oliver 77 & 88 JD A and AC's all of the time in the 4500 lb class. You know how I do it, I have the best tires. Any more most pulls allow top cut tires in the stock classes. Get a good set of hard tires well cut 13.6 X 38. If they don't allow any type of cuts get some old hard tires that are road wore really well. Then get your tractor balanced out really well. The 4500 for a MM Z is a really light class and you won't be able to add a whole lot of weight. Good Luck
