Finally found the magazine article on EJ Potter. Hot Rod, August 2001, page 94. His book and/or video are available at 1-877-AMADMAN. I still think Double Ugly was a lot more fun to watch than the turbines. Especially when the axle broke and one of those Tractor Puller Specials headed for the infield stands... must of been about 1985 or so, at Ingham County MI.

Seen him pull once was in late 70's or early 80's at Saline Mi one ugly but good running tractor sounded like a snowmobile engine or something that he used to manuever and start the 24 with. When he got hooked to the sled and lit the motor he was wide open and gone added bonus was the s'load of popcorn somebody had dumped down the exhaust pipes looked like a snow storm
