What do you think so far? Still have alot of work to do!! Got any fix a flat???? LOL LOL!!! Shooting for 3000-3250 for a base weight. Test fitted the sheet metal, and I did go with the solid front axle this time, but dont worry, if it breaks, you guys get the "I told you so!!!" Rights. LOL! It comes off there easily, so swaping it out will be easy. Got to find a 460-560 row crop nose piece, the one I have is off a utility, Yep, lot of work, will be worth it. Have a nice day! ChadS

No TA. Straight 5 speed. It is a bit different than other 460's. Look a little closer to the tractor, it will explain why it is so light. As for lightening it up more,,, weld on hubs, possibly a lite weight tranny plate. Some aluminum here and there, bout it. ChadS

Its getting there... Are you going to use a rack?? or a modified pedistal..( I'm guessing not a stock pedistal because of the weight.) On the weight reduction.. haha.. I'd start wit removing the concrete block and the jackstand.. hahaa.. those spindles and tires off a Murry... haha.. They look a 100 times better when all is painted to match.. paint usually makes it flow together... Keep us filled in.. JDGnut

Yep, the block has to go! LOL!! I have an idea I have been working on for the steering. I have an old IH 403 combine for parts, and it has hydralic steering. Gonna take the entire steering column out of the combine, and the steering cyl of the steer axle. I am researching how much pressure it runs with, to determine what kind of pump to use. Should be lighter than all the steering rod linkage. I have a set of 4.00X 15 3 rib front tires to put on it, Should look a whole lot better!! The front axle is an old Kewannee running gear, off an old gravity wagon, narrowed up the wheel base. Thinking of painting it in a stock paint scheme, always liked the restored pulling tractor look. Chad take 3x2 tubing cut 3 pieces 3 inches long. Find you some spindles from a Gleanor combine. Take your 3x2 tubing what ever length you want the front end to be. Cut your angles on each end of tubing to match the spindles. Weld the spindles to tubing. Then get you some 1/2 inch plate and 1/4 inch plate. cut the plate so it is the width of the frame rails 1/4 for the top and 1/2 for the bottom. Take another 1/4 inch piece to cap the front of frame rails. Weld the together then take those 3" pieces of tubing you cut at the beging space them on the bottom front of 1/2 plate . Then take the tubing with spindles on it weld to the three short pieces now you have a nice looking front end. To mount the 1/4 and 1/2 inch plates I drilled 8 holes 1/2 inch two for each side top and bottom use grade 8 bolts. Once you have done this this will give you tractor a nose down look. Also if you do use this design use 6018 rods to do the welding.
