You have just give some info I've been asking and getting no answer, do you happen to have the same info for a JD D? Roberts only grind D cams stock, but always questioned why the long ABDC of the valves, seams the intake would be pushing back through the valve before it gets closed. I run mine 1 tooth fast, seems to do better????? I know they worked very good for over 30 years that way, but was just wondering.
Thanks for any reply, then I can worry about some thing that really counts.
Bob

It would appear the late closing intake timing is used since the air/fuel mixture is still rushing in.The "small" ports & large displacement made for very high port velocities which also promoted airfuel mixing in the ports & detonation preventing swirl in the combustion chambers. Worked well to efficiently burn low grade fuel. Doesn't make peak HP on the pulling track but some impressive lugging power however. Those old sliderule engineers Deere had were pretty smart. They were doing tricks in the 40's & 50's that GM has incorporated in the late 90's for truck & corvette engines.
