First figure out what class you want to pull in,that will determine all your other choices.I pulled a 53SM last year in division 1 ,next year in division 2. These were mostly NATPA pulls with a few Alliance ones also.Tractor had all stock parts,i.e. nothing that was'nt available from the manufactuer.I did good for the first year, too good the boys don't like that you know! Remember it's not the parts as much as the condition, shape and how you put them together. Whatever you do to the old girl just pay attention to the details, like cam timing, valve lash and tuning. E-mail me if you need more specifics.

Trade the M for a good Massey Harris or Oliver and you will not have near the money invested and will be able to outpull the rebuilt M.

Go back with factory high altitude parts. Stock is always better than the modified garbage.

Well sonny come see me in about 49 years. My stock Super M will still be around. Will your modified garbage tractor? Very Doubtful. Even at 49 years of age and hard use this Super M still pulls 3-16's all day and a 24ft springtooth in planting season. Try that with one of them new fangled modifieds.

If you really want to know what's between the rails of that Super M, get it out of the field and hitch it to the sled one time. I've spent a little time pulling disc a and a Graham Hoeme plow too. Thought my daddy's old M was hot as a depot stove, until I tried that sled. It's a different ballgame.

Call Dennys. He's got everything you need. You might have to remortgage your house. But you get the screwing for free.

Lemmons is a very good source for parts and info. Depends how far you want to go but you can get a 100hp from an M pretty easy beyond that takes some serious planning and money. Bigger pistons stay with the stock stroke to save money. The head is where the hp comes from don't skimp on head work. Beware of Denny's and don't let the negative comments scare you off, there are a lot of really good people pulling. Art
